Positive men's worker

Russell has worked with the WLGMP for nearly 10 years and is currently the HIV Positive Men’s worker. He was also until recently a regular columnist for Positive Nation and works full-time in the HIV sector for the Medical Foundation for AIDS & Sexual Health.
Russell was diagnosed with HIV 20 years ago and has been working with gay men for 10 of those years, delivering HIV prevention and health promotion. Russell offers support to gay men with HIV on a range of issues, from sexual and emotional health through to treatments and dealing with the medical side of life with HIV. He enjoys hearing from other guys with HIV and how they handle things.
Russell says: ‘Life with HIV is enormously complex, or can be. Questions such as disclosure of status, intimate relationships, staying well and managing a life while doing so, and the ever-present stigma are some of the things that come up time and again, and as much as we’d like there to be simple answers, there aren’t always’.
If you want some friendly advice from someone who has been around the HIV block so often he has his own parking space, please contact him on pozmen@westlondongmp.org.uk, or call the WLGMP Helpline on 0800 587 8302.
